We’ll have all kinds of things going on during the cycling festival to keep you and your family busy, here’s just a taster of what may be available at the Slick ‘n’ Knobbly Cycling Festival 2010.

2hr or 4hr Mountain Bike Endurance Race

– a mountain bike endurance challenge for all abilities age 16 and over. Competitors will race around a new 6 mile course in Myarth Forest in the grounds of the estate. The course combines some long stoney climbs with some fantastic ‘Star Wars’ style single track zipping through the trees to create a physically challenging route suitable for every level of rider.

Dirt Crit Racing (over 16’s)

– starting in the evening with the final round being run just as the sun sets this racing will be fast and furious around a 1km long twisty grass course with a few obstacles to negotiate in and around the arena. Each category will compete for 30 minutes + 1 lap. Fun, friendly competition, show-boating and fancy dress is encouraged!

Devil Ride Sportive

– From the organisers of the Autumn Epic, and a sell out event in 2008 – the second running of the Devil Ride 100 mile cyclosportive will take in many of the classic road climbs of mid Wales, including the infamous Devil’s Staircase.

Go-Ride Coaching with Abergavenny RC

(in association with the Welsh Cycling Union)

– Abergavenny RC welcome youngsters to test their skills with an afternoon of ‘Go-Ride Skills Challenges’. Riders are encouraged to see ‘How Low You Can Go’ on the Limbo Challenge, test their nerve on the ‘Breakneck Balance Bars’ and, for the really brave, attempt to ride the ‘See-Saw Spectacular’! All skills are coached by the clubs expert British Cycling coaches, and there will be a limited number of bikes available for loan. Drop in anytime between 3.30 and 5.30pm Saturday.
