With an impressive track record of producing successful endurance racers over the years Torq Fitness were the perfect choice as a nutrition partner for the first UK Solo MTB Champs in 2010, providing as much energy drink as the hot and thirsty riders could gulp. This year they're going one step further and owner Matt Hart is putting his money where his mouth is.
A former elite level cross-country rider Matt will be racing in his first 12 hour race, "12 Hours of Exposure". As part of their prize for 24 Hours of Exposure in 2010 the category winners had their entry to the World Solo Championships paid for by sponsor Exposure Lights. With such a great incentive and proudly wearing their UK Solo Champs jerseys Matt Page, Rickie Cotter and Keith Forsyth decided to make the trip to the brave new world and take part in their first world championships, to do battle with over 400 of the best 24 hour solo riders in the world.
Not alone in their travels the UK Champions were joined by a dozen other Brits, many of whom had qualified for the event by taking part in the UK 24hr Champs in May. Each rider did us proud with a number of top 10's and a couple of podiums, not bad for this tiny little island. Here's a quick look at the British rider results:
Full results for the event are available at www.onlineresults.com.au. If you know another British rider that took part, or you were a British rider that took part, we'd love to hear from you, send us your photos and race reports or just a few words about how it felt racing in the World Solo Championships. And don't forget, entry to the 2011 UK Solo Championships is now open at www.24hoursolo.co.uk.
