Saturday 31st March - 8th April 2012

A week of cycling events and other activities based in the small village of Newcastleton in the Scottish Borders - road, off road and mountain bike events to suit all. Eight days of organised rides, competitions, sportives, sprints and races for enthusiasts, fanatics or keen cyclists.

Please note age restrictions apply to some events. Under 18's must have parental/guardian consent for all activities. Helmets must be worn for all cycling activities.

Copshaw Cracker Hill Climb TT - £50 Cash 1st Prize!

Bagdad Bell

Rescheduled from Tuesday.

"The Race to Bagdad" - A 4 mile long hill climb individual time trial with 800ft of climbing. Start in Newcastleton village and sprint up the road through the barren Scottish moorland towards Langholm. Ring the historic Bagdad Bell to stop the clock and claim victory as the King of the Mountain. Entry £3.

5.00pm - Registration opens outside Newcastleton Village Hall. Entry closes 10 minutes before each start.

5.30pm start for 12-16yrs - prizes courtesy of Bike Seven.

6pm start for over 17yrs and over - cash prizes courtesy of Newcastleton Business Forum.

Start times will be allocated on a first come first served basis when you register with pre-entries going first. Missing your start time will put you to the bottom of the pile.

Fully Sussed MTB Coaching at Newcastleton

MIAS level 2 mountain bike coaching and guiding from the guys at Fully Sussed. Special Festival price of £20 per session.

  • Women only ride + skills tuition (9am-11.30am) with Elite mountain biker Maddie Horton
  • Intermediate ride + skills tuition (9am-11.30am)

Advanced booking only. Rides must have a minimum of 4 participants to take place. Full refunds will be given if numbers are not met.

Children's Racing at Rock UK

4.30pm-5pm Registration open in the Sports Hall

5pm - Under 8's "12 Minutes of Exposure". As many laps of the short arena based course as you can in 12 minutes. No lower age limit.

5.30pm - Under 16's and Under 12's "24 Minutes of Exposure".

Ceilidh at Rock UK

To get the weekend of racing started with a bang there will be a free ceilidh at Rock UK from 8pm on Friday evening. Open to all. Come along and have some fun watching the country's top endurance racers trying to dance!

Saturday 7th April 2012

12 Hours & 24 Hours of Exposure

This mountain bike endurance event will take place on the final weekend of the festival. It includes the UK and European Solo Championships and will be attended by many of the top British endurance racers as well as European riders and mountain bikers new to endurance racing. The event starts in the village square at midday on 7th April and the 150 strong peloton is lead down the main street by the Copshaw Common Riders and a bagpipe player.

The racing takes place in Newcastleton Forest and finishes at midday on Sunday 8th April. Presentations will take place shortly afterwards at Rock UK.
